Scott Verona

I was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NYC, and was raised in East Brunswick, NJ. I often helped fellow students with math and science at East Brunswick High School. After I graduated from EBHS I attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. While at Washington University I studied math, psychology, and business. After graduating with honors from Washington University. I moved out to Los Angeles and worked in the TV News business as a sports reporter and sports writer. I worked at several major TV stations in Los Angeles. Following my stint in TV News, I was hired by Shaquille O’Neal to run the content on a website called Dunk.net. I wrote feature stories for the e-commerce company which sold basketball apparel and sneakers online. Without a doubt, it was the best job I ever had. But, all good things must come to an end. The startup company went bankrupt and I returned to New Jersey in search of a different career. I began substitute teaching at East Brunswick and Old Bridge High Schools, and soon found out that this would be a career worth pursuing – I loved working with the students and teaching them math. I was hired by the Bergen County Technical High School (Teterboro campus) a public magnet school for students living in Bergen County. The school soon became a state and nationally-ranked high school. Today, BCTHS is ranked #3 in the state by US News and #28 in the nation by Newsweek. I have taught honors mathematics courses at BCTHS for the past 18 years. The courses included: Algebra Honors, Geometry Honors, Math Analysis 1 Honors, Math Analysis 2 Honors, Pre-Calculus Honors, and Calculus Honors.

I have been privately tutoring students of all math levels for the past ten years. In addition to the above-listed courses, I have also helped students prepare for the SAT math sections, the ACT math section, the SAT Subject Tests in Math (level 1 and 2), Admission Tests for high schools, and Math Placement Tests for high school and college.
